Girls
By translating emotional states into spaces and landscapes, I focus on images of women respectively girls, respectively on the notions of images of women eg. girls. It is about the reflection on femininity as a construct or cliché in front of a patriarchal matrix and as an experience of one’s own identity. The mostly averted gazes of the portrayed point to a self-contained world. The figures move in the space between reality and dream and remain uncertain. Not least through this, I repeat a view that confirms the cliché in which women respectively girls are enigmatic objects. And yet the very negotiation of this theme, that is, the placement of female figures in the image and thus in perception, can be political.
